Paces for Payton
Paces for Payton is a benefit 1 mile walk, 5k and 10k being held at Snake River Landing in Idaho Falls. This race is to help a local Idaho Falls family and their daughter, Payton. At the age of 7 months, Payton began exhibiting symptoms of heart failure and had to be transported via life flight to Primary Children’s Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was determined that she had idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy. Her little heart was failing. Payton’s case was so severe the only way to save her life was to receive a heart transplant. Associated costs for her care are approaching $2 million and are growing. 100% of the proceeds from this great event will go toward medical expenses not covered by insurance.
Organizers are also using this race to bring awareness to our great community of the importance of organ donation and organ donation registration. Payton’s family is forever grateful for the donor family. During their time of loss, they saved lives by deciding to donate the organs of their loved one. Without this difficult decision, Payton and others wouldn’t be alive today.
